“Music is as important to me as the blood in my veins.”
Brandon Blanchard is a musician and composer based in Nashville, TN. A life intertwined with music began at a very young age for Brandon, as his very first memories involve watching and listening to his mother’s choir rehearse at their local church. Riding around in the backseat and hearing his mother sing along with choir practice tapes wove a deep foundation of melody and harmony into his framework. Alongside the choral landscapes, Brandon developed an attachment to his favorite childhood movies and perhaps more importantly, the iconic soundtracks that would carve their place into his mind.
As a child, he learned guitar and piano and began writing and recording songs on the family’s home computer. Over the coming years, Brandon would go on to perform in bands, sing in choir, produce his own music, and later arrive in Nashville to work as a writer, performer, and music producer. As much as he loved helping others find their sound, Brandon was always fascinated with writing instrumental music, especially the powerful storytelling music like the film scores he loved as a child.
At the beginning of 2020, Brandon took on writing his first full-length, soundtrack style album he called “The Hero Within”. The album was released to the world on September 8th of that year serving as both an expression of art and a portfolio of his style(s). Soon after the release, Brandon found himself in the musical story telling role he always admired, a composer for film. Since then, he has composed for a variety of films including the award wining short, “A Little Dead”. He later won best original score for “The Masterpiece”, an awe inspiring telling of the true story of painter Cristian Fredrick.
Having been in multiple musical roles throughout his life, Brandon now finds himself at home in the world of composing. From somber piano and strings, to heart pounding synth action, to the epic strength of the heroic orchestra, the endless possibilities of story telling means every project is different than the last. No matter what the project needs, Brandon’s deepest dedication to writing music is ensuring the listener is always connected on an emotional level.
What is it for you?
It’s what keeps you up at night.
What gets you through the parts of the day that are otherwise, completely mundane.
Or maybe you feel you’re not even fully present in those moments because part of you is still consumed.
It’s the reason you occasionally zone out in conversation.
The reason you lift your head every morning and the reason you can’t seem to allow yourself to lay your head down at night.
There is nothing to earn or to achieve.
There is no victory or finish line.
There is no prize awaiting you for your work.
There is only the pursuit.
There is only the drive.
There is only the force within you.
Be it strategic or reckless, it’s always there.
I truly believe it is within everyone.
We can’t control where it comes from.
We can’t control its persistence to steal our attention.
But we do control what we do with it.
We control whether or not we choose to listen.
More often than not, unfortunately, there are those who bury it.
Those who’ve allowed themselves to become numb to the tapping on their shoulder, the whisper in their ear.
But there is good news; it will be here as long as you are.
You can still choose to listen, to feel, and to follow it.
For me, this has been and always will be creating music.
Music is as important to me as the blood in my veins.
It’s been there from the earliest memories of my childhood.
It’s as much a part of me as my own skin.
Often, it has proved to be the biggest thing that ties me to this planet.
I wake everyday so thrilled to see where the journey of creating music takes me next.
And I’m excited to see where it takes you too.
Will you allow yourself to slow down?
Are you brave enough to look within?
Are you daring enough to let go of the reins and let it lead you?
Will you stop to listen?
Then I’m right there with you.
